Hey guys:) Happy Humpday!
Well, you know how much I love poetry. I've written a few here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

This one was written by Helen Cheng. Got her poetry from Poetry Soup. I hope you LOVE it as much as I did.

Hello guys! :)
Hope your holidays have been fun? There's still three days left in the year for a memorable 2015 and reflections on what the year has been so you can charge into 2016 with a free and liberating leap.

As you know, I'm a great lover of series/TV Shows. I wrote about it here and even did a review on a show here. Today, I'll be sharing a list of my best TV shows for 2015. This list is specifically based on my the ones I saw this year (Some of them might have started showing years back) and my preferences, so if your favorite show isn't included, please let me apologize in advance...hehe.

I love series because they don't seem to ever end till like two to nine or even 11 years after and you get to see continuous portrayal of the characters' lives. I also do this thing where I analyse each show I watch by myself and try to justify what happened to a character in relation to the whole point of the series itself. Please I'm looking for a partner :) sometimes it gets a bit awkward doing these analyses on your own phew*

Do you also analyse series like I do? Let's form a team and analyse together!

So below is the list (In no particular order):

 1. Empire
2. Fresh Off The Boat
3. Mr. Robot
4. Homeland
5. Quantico
6. Madam Secretary
7. The Good Wife
8. Power
9. How I met your Mother
10. Lipstick Jungle
11. The Big Bang Theory
12. Dirty Sexy Money
13. Game Of Thrones
14. Book Of Negroes
15. The 100
16. Gotham
17. Devious Maids
18. Blindspot
19. Scandal
20. Switched At Birth

Which one of these shows have you seen? What did you think? Any show you've seen and loved that isn't here? Please recommend!

Have a truly fab week ahead and a very Happy New year in advance!

Hey guys :)
Merry Christmas!!!

Oh I can’t explain my excitement today. I feel like it’s going to be a great day! By the way, I have nowhere to go today so if you have any Christmas turn up you can invite me to, I’ll be happy to come :D (that’s probably why I'm so excited)

This entire year and the past few days for me have been quite interesting. The highlight of my year was attending the Lagos International Poetry Festival (I'll write a separate post on this) and Titilope Sonuga's Becoming - which was really awesome! On Wednesday, I hung out with a very good friend I hadn't seen in a while and we decided to eat at the Chicken republic at ICM. We had chicken and even though it was tasty, it was really undone inside. I couldn't finish mine after seeing my friend’s chicken, which was red inside.

We goofed around for a while because we were waiting for our movie to start and took some pictures while waiting.

We decided to see the new movie Fifty and it was good! I’ll do a review on this soon. Oh my God, Dakore Egbuson’s character (Tola) was the best for me. She was just perfect whenever she’s crazy and even when she’s emotional. You guys should see the movie. You’ll have some laughs to go! And oh, you’ll also get to hear Ireti Doyle speak good pidgin and Yoruba.

On Thursday, I was home, so I decided to see “For Colored Girls” again. I’ll love to do a review on it, but my heart is still too heavy from watching it. I'm taking my little niece to see “Father Christmas” on Saturday, so excited!

Watch me go really shy tonight on Highlites with IK (Christmas Episode), tonight on Africa Magic Showcase DSTV151. Time: 9:30pm

What’s your Christmas looking like? Have fun today, guys!!!

P.S: Please forgive the poor quality of the pictures, I promise I'll get better with time :D

This is probably one of the oldest questions ever asked, high up with greats like, ‘When is the next rain?’ and ‘What do we have for dinner?’

At Haemo, we discovered that throughout history, real attempts have been made at placing monetary value on human life, knowingly or unknowingly. We came across one of the earliest recorded values placed on life — 20 pieces of silver. Judah struck the bargain for his brother Joseph to be sold.
Fast forward centuries, past the pounds of salt and mirrors that exchanged hands and past the entire families traded for gunpowder (it really did look like a good bargain at the time).

Now? A Nigerian can get as high as 5 Million Naira if he is willing to part with one of his kidneys. In fact, in Pakistan, you can part with both your kidneys. That’s not a bad idea (for many people). Chances are, you’ll get free dialysis.

It sucks, but hey, people do it.

The point is, many people seem to have an opinion on what the value of human life is.We have our opinion too. And clearly, you are right.

We think your life is priceless.
No, we know your life is priceless.

Every day, several lives are lost in Nigeria because of a few pints of blood which could have saved them but was beyond reach. Sometimes, it is the child who suffers from illnesses and simply needs those pints to make the difference. Or a mother who has lost so much blood during labour. Or a young person who is fighting to stay alive after an accident. Sometimes, it could be complete strangers. Other times, family and loved ones.

Day by day, these numbers add up to hundreds of thousands, and even millions of avoidable deaths.
This is why we have set out to build a place where the priceless gift of life could really be shared.
We are raising a community where people who need lifesaving blood will always be within reach of people who are willing to donate, and share this beautiful gift of life. We want you to be a part of it and to tell everyone about it because more has never been merrier.

What is life worth to you?

Please sign up for updates on the progress we are making at www.haemo.co.
We promise not to spam you.
Also, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates.
The more people you share this with, the better for all of us.

Thank you.

Sound familiar?

Yes! That's just one of my favourite songs from FOX TV's "Empire". :D

I surely have seen the whole first series and I'm frantically waiting for Season 2 to air...Gosh I CAN'T WAIT! Based on majority feedbacks I've been getting that I'm either more "emotional" than "romantic", or rather stiff altogether, I took a risk at romance today.

I hope you like it :)

Hello guys!

Remember Baby Baby from last week? This is the second part.

If you missed the first one, you can read it here.

Enjoy :)

***

But mother I won’t be alone
Other children will go with me
And march the streets of Birmingham
To make our country free!

But mother I won’t be alone
Other children will go with me
No, Baby.
No, you may not go
For I fear those guns will fire
But you may go to Church instead,
And sing in the children’s choir

***
She wasn't letting me leave.

Even with my persistence. I had almost resolved to sit in when my tricks didn't seem to be working on Mama. Brilliant woman that she was, she suddenly suggests I went to church – where she thought I’d be safe. That was at least where there wasn't any form of segregation.

I could feel the sadness from right inside her pupils.

Poor Mama. Her heart was heavy and the fear sneered through enough for my little eyes to see. She was actually letting me go – into God’s arms – to sing rather than march with my peers on the streets of Birmingham. Stubborn as I was - and hell bent to make it outside, I resolve to "Sing to the Lord"

If only she knew the effect of her idea. She had a tad bit of hope, but looked like it was gone in seconds and back in a flash. Of course I was going to Church, lift up my eyes to the hills and sing my heart out. I was going to sing in no way I had ever sang. I was going to round every muscle and bone in my body up and shout out to Him...To sing...

...With the other children.

P.S: Thanks for reading Baby Baby #1. Sincerely Appreciated! Hope you enjoyed this one? Tell me how  below!

This was inspired by my secondary school's song book (Called Merry Mayflower). It's an account (in form of a song) of a little girl's experience during the Birmingham March of 1963. I wrote short stories at the end of each verse to the song. This is the first one. Enjoy...

Mother dear, may I go down town
Instead of out to play?
And march the streets of Birmingham
In the freedom march today?

Mother dear, may I go down town
Instead of how to play?
No, Baby.
No, you may not go
For I fear those guns are fierce
And clubs and hoses, guns and jails
Aren't good for a little child

***
I felt a ting of frustration, as even batting my eyelashes didn't help this time. My mother always had that soft heart for me – after all, I was her only child. She loved me so much that she had put up a strong fight with my dad not to name me. She preferred to call me Baby.

We hadn't heard any noises, but we sure got news of the peaceful walk going sour. I felt the need to be there. To march with my mates for this freedom that had seemed unattainable for a long time. I was just 10, and I already knew my contribution was needed for the freedom of my people. Mama didn't want me to leave – of course she wouldn't – she definitely didn't want to risk losing me.

Maybe I didn't know how scary it was to see your child hell bent on going somewhere because I wasn't a mother; I just felt I had to be out there. I had to be with the other children. I had seen Heather's signature hat right from my window. She was in company of two others - whom I knew so well - they were my other friends, Reese and Montana. We did everything together, but not this one. Mama had failed to even let them in.

She wasn't letting me leave.

Sometimes, mostly even - "what ifs" hinders us from taking a step and before you know, time has passed so much, you realize you could've achieved something with that time lost, no matter how little it was.

Just do it! Like Nike...hehe

Have a yummy week ahead!

Happy New Week :)

...Regardless of what anyone says, you direct the course of your life. It might be scary, but it's always a risk worth taking. We definitely do need to make a few falls to be where we want to be.

I wish you a beautiful and less stressful discovery of your path this week!

Love,
Lo.

P.S: Poll is still calling for your lovely presence. Just check the top right corner of the blog. Thank you! xxx

You know Sagamu is naturally finer than this, right?
Clad in variant cloves,
Of certain centuries and now,
Soil so different,
I always knew when I was there
- And it's not about adult or infant brain
My heart just knew it was there.

The air is different yet mixed,
Her products are distinct at all levels
You didn't learn in her and not be a star
She's all mom,
She's all bother.

All around her,
She's balanced love and hate
Sons, daughters always came back,
No matter the length of the lands
Nor the width of the seas

Though some only stayed a few,
She always gifted her peaceful air
In them for keeps.
Outside her warm haven.

My Village,
Always haven bound for her own,
Not minding when the hug happens.
My Village,
A weave of love still weaving.
My Village,
- is real age.

-And I'm not sure I can feel this enough,
But:

SAGAMU IS SO BAE.

May your day be filled with shine,
That your week glows with greatness.
Have a wonderful week!
Happy Birthday!!!
Hello People!!! How are you doing today? I wish the day brings better favors than yesterday did! (Amen)

So that's my mom right there. I'm sure you're already going...."This geh isn't even fair at all. See her yellow pawpaw momma!" Hehe....one can't be 'yellow-er' than the "yellow hub", can they?

I remember her first buying me 3 books when I was really little. I collected the books, quite confused, but really happy inside as I loved to read anything I could find and owning my own book was just awesome! She told me years after that she'd been observing me a lot and found out that I loved to read anything readable, so that prompted her to buy me those books.

Then again, she sees my fascination with needles and threads and then stylishly keeps her N2.50k worth of machine for when I would graduate into using it. She fuels my interest in sewing till today. She's the same person that'd always find a paper or book I had written on and had left lying around somewhere and also advise me to attempt writing scripts for soap operas even when I made sure she forgot about it.

I would write a really long poem for her, but I'm not sure I'm at the place where whichever poem I write will describe my mother's worth. So I'll just wish her a fulfilling birthday for the first time on my blog ---- where I write based on her influence.

Happy Birthday, Momma!!!

Oh yes, you read that right. I'm saying happy new year to you fabulous people! I'm truly lucky to have readers like you visit this tiny corner of mine every time I put up a post. Most times I'm not sure if my posts make sense or not, but you still read them all the same.

So, because in my books, a new year can be celebrated any time of the year depending on who you're wishing, I want to wish you that squeezes time out to be here to read all forms of rants that I put here a very happy new year everyday.  And this year - God willing - I want to give out giveaways and I'll really work towards achieving that.  Watch this space!

Also, I might be writing more poems and short stories, sometimes flash fiction, personal and impersonal adverts, maybe reviews on books, movies and I also won't be leaving my rants so you're stuck with me! Hehe :D

This year, I hope to be way better than 2014 for me and for you all.

Happy New Year! !!!! Always.

Love,
